ORU-OWERRI BONUCES BACK IN GRAND STYLE – CHIEF NGOKA

The President General of Owerri Nchi-Ise and one of illustrious sons of Owerri, Chief Sir Ngoka has stated that Oru-Owerri festival has bounced back in grand style.

Speaking to journalists at the Owerri Hall on the 6th July 2018 during the flag off of 2018 Oru- Owerri festival, Chief Ngoka opined that Oru-Owerri festival is one festival so cherished by Owerri people and that it was a reminder of how their great grandfather moved away from Uratta and arrived at Ugwu-Ekwema along Egbu road Owerri 100 of years back.

 He said that over the years the festival is normally marked with pomp and pageantry and that peace and love rained throughout the period of Oru-Owerri.  Chief Ngoka, posited that the plaining and execution of Oru-Owerri over the years is the duty of “Oha-Owerri, who are the custodian of culture and tradition of Owerri people.

 Chief Ngoka used the occasion to advise Owerri people to be united during this year’s Oru-Owerri at least to tell those who want to disunite us as a people that we are still together. He revealed that the grand finale of Oru-Owerri will come up on the 21st of July 2018 and prayed for successful outing.

 Speaking also, an illustrious son of Owerri and the honourable commissioner of finance Imo State, Hon. Barrister Obinna Mbata, commended the president general of Owerri Hon. Ngoka, the “Oha-Owerri” the Azuanuka women and entire Owerri people on this year’s Oru-Owerri festival. He told Owerri people to be united and love each other because progress thrives where there is peace and harmony. Hon. Mbata used the occasion of his interaction with the press to re-echo his ambition to run for House of Assembly seat, to enable him represent Owerri Municipal in the Imo House of Assembly. He opined that as a barrister who knows what legislation and bills are, he will use his wealth of experience to bring new things in the House of Assembly in favour of Owerri people and Imo State at large and called on Owerri people and Owerri residents to vote for him come 2019.

 In his contribution, another illustrious Owerri Son, Hon. Amadi Steve equally congratulated “Ndi oha Owerri” the president general, the Azuanuka women and entire Owerri people on this year’s Oru-Owerri festival. He advised Owerri people to live in peace and love one another because is good to be united as a people.

The occasion was celebrated with eating of roasted yam, oil bean salad (Ugba), Chicken, drinks and so on.

Dignitaries that attended the occasion includes chief willie Amadi (Ukwachi-naka), Hon. Dr. Barr. S.B. Chikwe, former Mayor Owerri Municipal, Barr. Ken Opara, legal adviser AGAP Imo State, Dr. Peter Njemanze Chairman planning committee 2018 Oru-Owerri and many other dignitaries. Jonne cross anchored the programme.
