Imo Police Reinforce Ban On Commercial Motorcycle In Owerri

Imo State Police Command on Tuesday has reminded the general public that the ban on the use of motorcycles within Owerri Municipal is still in force.

According to the Commands Spokesperson, Henry Okoye the reinforcement of the ban was to curb crime and criminal activities that are perpetrated with the use of motorbikes and also enhance the traffic safety in the state capital.

He warned that defaulters will be arrested and their bikes impounded and urged residents to comply with the policy.

He said: “Any violator of this directive will be arrested, and their motorcycle impounded. This measure is part of ongoing efforts by the State Government to enhance security and reduce crime in the State.

“The ban is specifically aimed at curbing criminal activities which have been facilitated by the use of motorcycles. In addition, the measure seeks to alleviate traffic congestion within the city, fostering a safer and more efficient environment for all road users.

“The Command urges all residents and motorcyclists to comply with the law, warning that Police Operatives will continue to strictly enforce the ban, and violators will face appropriate legal action.

“Citizens are encouraged to support these efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone.”
