ROTARY CLUB COMMISSIONS WATER PROJECT AT UBOMIRI

The District Governor, district 9142 Nigeria Rtn. Dr. Dan Ajawara and the president of the Rotary Club of Owerri Central Rtn. Modestus Okeke (Phf) led other members recently to commission Water/Toilet project at the Ubomiri Girls Secondary School, Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State Nigeria.

Speaking to journalists after the commissioning, Rtn. Modestus Okeke (PHF) stated that Rotary Club are community leaders, friends and professionals united under the umbrella of service and that they come together to inspire people, take action and bring about lasting change. He equally revealed that the clubs are more than 1.2 million people with passion and integrity, completing projects that make lasting impact on our communities.

Rotarian president Okeke, further revealed that during the current Rotary years (2018/2019) the Rotary Club of Owerri Central sort for a secondary school (possibly a Girls Secondary School) to assist with water facility and it was under this venture of service that the Rotary Club of Owerri Central R.I. District 9142, identified the Ubomiri girls secondary school a girls school with over 1,000 students without convenience and comfort facility and with some dilapidated buildings and this led them to expand her budget that brought about the drilling of borehole with submersible pump, construction of 15ft tank stand with its septic tank, reticulation of water within the school premises.

All the aforementioned projects according to Rtn. Okeke president Rotary Club of Owerri Central were completed, commissioned and handed over to the management, staff and students of Ubomiri Girls Secondary School Courtesy of Rotary Club of Owerri Central.

Rotary Okeke used the opportunity offered during the commissioning, to thank members of the Rotary Club of Owerri Central for their doggedness and zeal in seeing through this project by funding it 100%. He equally thanked the Director of projects Rtn. Dan Uzomah for his foresight and dedication. He thanked all the members of the club that came for inspection of the project during construction and the same thanks goes to the project commissioning committee led by Rtn. Okey Okeke.

The president also thanked the district governor 9142 Rtn. Dr. Dan Ajawara who came all the way from Enugu with his spouse to commission the project. He specially thanked the management of SEMB, ministry of Education, ministry of Health, the Mbaitoli Local Government council staff, the traditional Ruler of Ubomiri and his Cabinet for gracing the occasion.

The president finally advised the Ubomiri community, management, staff and student’s of Ubomiri Girls Secondary School to guide and protect the facilities. And called on well meaning individuals to help and address the issue of dilapidated school buildings at Ubomiri Girls Secondary School.
