Ahead of the 2019 general elections the crisis rocking Imo State All Progressives Congress (APC) appears to be worsening with each passing day.

The latest in the imbroglio the Imo APC has found itself in is the installation of a factional state chairman by Governor Rochas Okorocha’s faction of the party in the person of Mr. Chris Oguoma as acting chairman on Wednesday.

The installation it was learnt took place at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, the state capital with many of the party members loyal to the governor at the event.

Among those present at the installation ceremony included, Okorocha’s Chief of Staff, son-in-law and anointed governorship aspirant in APC, Mr. Uche Nwosu, the deputy speaker, Mr Ugonna Ozuigbo among other lawmakers of APC, extraction as well as proponents of the Rescue mission government of Okorocha.

The development is coming days after a faction of Imo APC stakeholders led by the state deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere, re-elected Mr. Hillary Ekeh as Imo APC chairman during the party state congress which held on May 19.

The congress was said to have held despite a court injunction restraining the state APC from conducting the election.
