Okorocha spoke in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo and made available to newsmen in Owerri. The governor boasted that when he left APGA, he had moved to APC with the major stakeholders of APGA.

This came as a Federal High Court sitting in Owerri, adjourned till June 22, 2018 , a case challenging the outcome of the state congress of the Imo State All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to the release, ”Governor Okorocha is one of the principal founders of APC and when he took the mainstream of APGA to join the merger that gave birth to APC, he was not under any pressure to do so. He even took that action at the risk of his second tenure.

”He became the propeller of APC in Imo and the whole of South East, mobilising people for the party in Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Enugu and Anambra States. He was the rallying point and he did that in the overall interest of the South-East and indeed, APC.”

The trial Judge, Justice Lewis Alagwa, also granted a motion exparte before the court by counsel to the plaintiffs, Chigozie Aladun, requesting that the respondents should be served through substituted means, one which is the APC state chairman Mr. Hilary Eke.

According to Aladun, “It is just that some people have not been served and our interest is that everybody must be heard. Let us hear everybody.

“We filed a motion experte to serve them which the court graciously granted. We will serve them and then on June 22, when the matter is coming up, they will say their own and we say our own, then the rule of law will be enhanced.”

On why the plaintiffs went to court, Aladun said: “It is very simple; their position is that the congress was inconclusive and then the most appropriate thing to do is for the party to effectively consider their complaints and the court will give its ruling one way or the other.

“Some of the officers of the party have not been served. The chairman of the party in Imo State has not been served. The court granted leave to serve him by substituted means. We will do that and all of us will be ready for June 22nd.”

Speaking also, Soronadi Njoku, counsel to the National Organising Secretary of APC, Osita Izunaso, said a preliminary objection had been filed challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.

Njoku said: “It was awash in the social media through out the weekend starting from Friday, that this court made an order restraining the APC from holding or organizing the state congress in Imo state.

“It was everywhere that the court has made an order restraining the APC from carrying out the state congress pursuant to an order filed by the plaintiffs”.

Meantime, the former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, said it was a shame that Governor Rochas Okorocha could not fix the bad road network in his Ideato country home, since 2011.

Chief Ihedioha, who was reacting to the lamentations of Ideato people, during his consultation visit to Ndiejezie and Arondizuogu, wondered what Okorocha plans to post as his testimonial at the end of his tenure.

“Those who have not visited Ndiejezie Arondizuogu may not fully appreciate what you people pass through on a daily basis. The road network in Ideato is not only a bad testimonial for your son (Okorocha), but also a clear proof that you have been abandoned for a long time”, Ihedioha said.

According to the former lawmaker, “the situation of roads in Ideato is a replica of the economic life of the state.”, stressing that “propaganda, cosmetic smiles, falsehood, intimidation and the prevailing grab-grab mentality, will not extricate the state and citizens from the economic mess we have found ourselves.”
