A prominent grassroots organization, the Ahiazu Patriotic Front (APF), has initiated the process to recall Hon. Samuel Otibe, the member representing Ahiazu Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.

The group, consisting of professionals and patriots from Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, accused the lawmaker of “gross insubordination and disrespect for constituted authority.”

During APF’s quarterly meeting held last Sunday in Ogbe Ahiara, the group’s interim Executive Secretary, Comrade Emmanuel Diala, stated that stakeholders had concluded that recalling Hon. Otibe was the only way to ensure effective representation for the people of Ahiazu.

He highlighted several allegations against the lawmaker, which, according to him, have caused widespread concern and embarrassment within the constituency.

Diala accused Hon. Otibe of engaging in public altercations and insulting the governor and senior party leaders across the state.

As a result, APF said it plans to open a register and collect signatures from all wards to expedite the recall process.

Hon. Otibe is currently under indefinite suspension from the House of Assembly.

According to the group, he has shown no remorse for his actions.

APF’s leadership said it also expressed shock at findings from a probe into the allegation against the lawmaker.

The party members from Ogbe and Otulu/Aguneze wards had petitioned Hon. Otibe.

APF called on stakeholders in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area to convene an urgent meeting to address what it describes as the “shameful” representation of the constituency.

The group also urged other public officials to lead by example in alignment with the vision of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration, which aims to deliver meaningful democratic dividends to the people of Imo State.
