The campaign team of Seyi Tinubu has launched a biopic on the president’s son in preparation for his 2027 governorship ambition in Lagos state.

A documentary of the younger Tinubu has been making the rounds on various social media platforms, over the weekend.

The video highlights the president’s son’s biography, focusing on his education, career, and humanitarian activities as a Nigerian. It also documents his involvement in youth development in the country.

The biopic comes on the heels of some groups’ endorsements of Seyi Tinubu as a potential successor to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2027.

On Tuesday, the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders issued an endorsement in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

He was also endorsed by Friends of Seyi, a group emphasising his vision and intellectual wherewithal to govern the country’s commercial nerve.

The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to rumours of a rift between Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and the Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The party’s leadership has dismissed the reports, stressing that there is no conflict between the two individuals or any other potential aspirants within the party.

Speaking to Daily Trust, Seye Oladejo, the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Lagos, attributed the rumours to opposition groups seeking to create unnecessary controversy.

He reiterated that the party has not made any official statements about the 2027 governorship race, as it is focused on governance and the upcoming 2025 local government elections.

“The party has not spoken about the 2027 election. This is the time for impactful governance, not needless politicking to heat the polity,” Oladejo said.

He added that there is no division between Seyi Tinubu and Speaker Obasa, stressing that the opposition is simply trying to manipulate the situation for political gain.

Regarding the alleged endorsements of Seyi Tinubu, Oladejo dismissed them as external attempts to stir up sentiment and conflict within the APC and stressed that unity and progress should remain the party’s primary focus.

The comments come amid growing speculation surrounding the 2027 Lagos governorship race, with various groups, including those backing Seyi Tinubu, throwing their support behind his potential candidacy.

However, Oladejo made it clear that the party’s priority remains on the immediate task of effective governance and party cohesion.

In response, the Lagos PDP Chairman, Philip Aivoji, also denied any involvement in the matter, distancing his party from the speculations.

“Anyone behind such allegations is on their own,” he stated.
